Green walks :

In the department Saône-et-Loire there are multiple walking routes, which take you to beautiful green places. These walking-routes are clearly described in the “Guides les Balades Vertes”. You can buy these books at the local touristic services. You can find the walks around Sigy-le-Châtel in the book “Guide les Balades Vertes: Entre Grosne et Guye”. These walks allow you to see not only Burgundic nature, but also picturesque little castles and Romanic churches. Good to know: there is such a guide to consult in our gîte.

CYCLING IN GREEN NATURE :

For cyclists Sigy-le-Châtel is a beautiful starting point.

Voie Verte :

Between the cities of Mâcon and Chalon-sur-Saône there is a 70km long route, the “Voie Verte”, a green road, that is only accessible for not-motorised vehicles, pedestrians and horsemen. This “Voie Verte” is situated on a former railway-tracks and is a part of “Le tour de Bourgogne”, a whole of cycling roads, that covers about 600km road.

The “Voie Verte” takes you on a trip through the majestic vineyards of the “côte chalonaise”, an abundant historic patrimony and the poetic past of Alphonse de Lamartine.

Voie Bleue :

The “Voie Bleue” is another route, that winds through Burgundy. This route is built on former tow-paths on the banks of the Saône-river and gives an oasis of tranquility for the cyclist.

If you like to combine a cycling tour with a piece of culture, you can make the 17km ride from Mâcon to Fleurville. These two cities are worth a visit.
